A Place to Begin

You found your way here. That's enough for now.

The Common Room isn't a forum in the traditional sense. There are no threads to follow, no metrics to chase, no pressure to be interesting or consistent or present in any particular way. It's simply a place where people who think carefully about their lives can share a moment of that thinking with others.

This is the first post. Consider it an open door.

If something is on your mind: a pattern you've noticed, a question you've been sitting with, a moment that stayed with you longer than expected, you're welcome to leave it in the comments below. You're also welcome to read quietly and say nothing at all. Both are valid ways to be here.

I'll be in this room too; not as a moderator or a host, but as someone who finds value in conscious, honest conversation and wants more of it in the world.

Welcome. Take your time.

M. Calloway, I think about that, too. I guess I don’t actually think about it like that. It’s more that when I’m falling asleep at night, I think about my day and my interactions with people. I notice a lot more reacting than noticing.

I’ve been thinking lately about how much of my day I spend reacting rather than noticing. This room feels like a good place to practice the other thing.

Share something, or simply read quietly.
